Firehouse – More Than Words Can Say

It’s actually: Alias – (I Need You Now) More Than Words Can Say

This one’s very understandable. FireHouse and Alias are similarly cheesy power balladeers, both joining the game a bit too late in the early 90’s. However, FireHouse’s C.J. Snare has a much raspier voice than Alias’ Freddi Curci’s clean vocals. Still a forgivable mistake.

Megadeth & Metallica – Hunger (Unreleased)

It’s actually: Eternal Decision – Hunger

Sounds too good to be true– thrash metal giants Metallica and Megadeth joining forces in studio recorded glory. Well, it is too good to be true. This is actually a track off the self-titled album of Christian thrashers, Eternal Decision. I guess the closest we’ll come to Metadeth for now is No Life ‘Til Leather (featuring Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine).

Alice in Chains with Pearl Jam – Alone (Acoustic)

It’s actually: Downface – Alone
Also attributed to Creed and Tool, which is even stranger.

This is another case of an unknown artist suffering from a random track being attributed to a popular band. It makes you wonder who originally uploaded this and why they mislabeled the track. Anyway, there are definitely two voices in this track, but neither of them sound like either Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) or Maynard Keenan (Tool). I can understand why they’d be confused for Eddie Veder’s (Pearl Jam) or Scott Stapp’s (Creed) vocals… so why was it never mislabeled as “Pearl Jam and Creed”?’

Beautiful track.

Nirvana – I Smell Sex and Candy

It’s actually: Marcy Playground – Sex and Candy

One hit wonders are the most common victims of p2p mislabeling, and this is an example of such. Marcy’s John Wozniak has a much deeper, monotonous voice than Kurt Cobain’s.

Alice in Chains – Heaven N Hell

It’s actually: Circus of Power – Heaven & Hell

This one’s understandable.  Circus of Power is largely an unknown band, and this track (from their 1993 album, Magic & Madness) actually features Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell.  Their ties to Alice in Chains don’t stop there– they even toured with them, as you’ll learn in the video below (embedding disabled).

This blog is basically a source to help prevent the mislabeling of song titles and artists on peer to peer file sharing networks, namely the ever-popular Limewire.
